HERBERT SIEGEL

SIEGEL--Herbert J. Weill Cornell Medicine is profoundly saddened by the loss of its dear friend and esteemed benefactor Herbert J. Siegel. Herb joined our Board of Fellows in 1998 and, with his wife Jeanne, was a steadfast champion of Weill Cornell Medicine. Herb's enduring legacy of stewardship and generosity is epitomized by his unwavering support for our institutional community and the people who encompass it. His devotion is most notable with the creation of the Siegel Family Awards for Faculty Excellence and the Siegel Student Prizes through generous endowment gifts that supported exemplary teaching, research, clinical care and faculty development, as well as the education of countless medical students. Herb also established the Herbert J. and Ann L. Siegel Distinguished Professorship in Clinical Medicine with his first wife, Ann, who predeceased him. We will greatly miss his gregariousness, bountiful humor and warm friendship. Our deepest condolences to Jeanne, their sons John and William, and their family and friends.
