JAMES ROBINSON Obituary

ROBINSON--James D. III. The Memorial Sloan Ketter-ing Cancer Center (MSK) community notes with tremendous sadness the death of our longtime friend James D. Robinson III. Jim's partnership with MSK dates back more than 50 years. He was elected to the MSK Board in 1970 and was its longest serving member. Throughout his extraordinary tenure he held countless leadership positions, including Chair of the Board for over a decade and Honorary Chair for many years following. A thoughtful and analytical executive, Jim brought his extensive business experience in financial services and technology investing to his many roles on the Board. In addition to his Board leadership, he was an active member of more than a dozen committees. Jim and his wife, Linda, generously supported many of MSK's initiatives, and their contributions will continue to impact people with cancer and their families at MSK and around the world for years to come. In recognition of Jim's longtime service as a Director and Chair of Bristol- Myers Squibb, the company's foundation endowed two Bristol-Myers Squibb/James D. Robinson III Junior Faculty Chairs in 2008. We extend our deepest sympathies to Jim's entire family, as well as our heartfelt gratitude for all he did to support MSK's mission of ending cancer for life. Scott Stuart, Chair of the MSK Board of Trustees; Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, President and CEO of MSK; Lisa DeAngelis, MD, Chief Physician Executive of MSK; Joan Massague, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer of MSK and Director of the Sloan Kettering Institute
