MARIETTA SCHIFF Obituary

SCHIFF--Marietta.

Died peacefully at home in New York City on January 28 at the age of 71. Marietta was the cherished daughter of the late Prof. Frank Angell (Prof. Emeritus NYU) and the late Josephine Danza Angelilli; the beloved wife of over 50 years of Larry Schiff; the proud mother of Bradley Schiff and Jennifer Roff, James Schiff and Meredith Straus, Elizabeth Schiff Levine and Ronald Levine; the devoted grandmother of Josephine and Annabel Schiff, Luca Schiff, and Ella Jean and Jasper Levine. Also, the adored sister of Peter Angelilli and his wife Arlene; the adored aunt of their children; and the loving niece of Theresa Leuschner. A long- time teacher, Marietta helped her many students find joy in learning. Marietta's loyalty to her family and many dear friends was fierce and unwavering, and our devotion to her unsurpassed. A rare treasure, she will live in our hearts always.

Marietta had a huge heart which allowed her to feel everything, and a huge brain which enabled her to be such a good teacher, and a huge sense of humor which was totally endearing, and she wore huge glasses allowing her to see everything! Marietta was a joy to be around and, though her presence will be sorely missed, her spirit lives on in all of us who knew and appreciated her.
