I have no idea how "An Accident of Love" came to my bookshelf, but there it was when started to perform a much-overdue cull of my holdings. I cannot give up a book just like that, and so I started to read ... and continued ... and have just finished. I am now sad to discover that I cannot tell the author how much I have enjoyed the read. Why is this not one we all know, and why have I not seen the movie? Is it merely that I am a child of the Nova Scotia backwoods, and thus simply out of the loop? Ah, well ... better late than never. RIP, and thank you!

I offer my most sincere and heartfelt condolence to the entire Berlin family... As a jazz radio host for nearly 40 years, rarely does a day go by that I am not reminded of the greatness of Irving. In my case, I owe a debt to Mary's uncle who as a surgeon saved my life at NYC's Medical Center in 1958 performing a miracle surgery on me when my parents were told there was no hope.

I was so thrilled to meet her briefly at Symphony Space at my sons' Irving Berlin show a few years ago. I had read her memoir and watched interviews online -- her serious interest in the music really impressed and touched me. Thank you!
