Mary Jorquera Obituary

JORQUERA--Mary, a writer, magazine editor and advertising executive died Tuesday evening at her home in Greenwich, CT. A graduate of Framingham (MA) State Teachers' College, she served as Editor in Chief of WEEI Food Fair Magazine and broadcast regularly on WEEI radio. She also wrote for The Boston Globe and The Atlantic Monthly Magazine. In 1955 she married Humberto Jorquera of Santiago, Chile, where she was an account executive with J. Walter Thompson. In more recent years she volunteered her talents as a publicist and writer in the service of community organizations in Greenwich and elsewhere, including the Schlesinger Library for the History of Women at Harvard University. Mrs. Jorquera is survived by her husband, her sister, Helen Brown of Nahant, MA, her daughters, Christine Vickery of New York, NY and Sarah Jorquera of Bedford, NY, and five grandchildren. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Church, Greenwich on Monday, June 23 at 10am. Calling hours will be held at Fred D. Knapp & Son, Greenwich on Sunday, June 22 from 2-5pm.
