Coco and Nana

Nana was a role model of intellect, generosity, and values. She opened up her heart and apartment to me summer and summer, enabling me to grow up in NYC, meet my husband, and intern at NYSPI at 21 years old. I would not be here under these set of circumstances without her. She was giving to the bone, and I hope to continue to carry her light by borrowing from her what came naturally. Kindness to others with less, and expect nothing in return.

Pat was a terrific mentor, researcher, author and person. My wife Jane and I were lucky to have been invited to Pat and Jack's home, and I still appreciate their many contributions to methodology and psychopathology research.

Pat was also my mentor at Columbia from 2005-2008, during which time she welcomed me into her Children in the Community Study research group. Pat taught me so much about statistics, methodology, and living a good life. I would not be where I am now without her generous guidance and support. I tell my students about what I learned from Pat every time I teach statistics. I have many wonderful memories of intergenerational celebrations (and delicious food!) at Pat's apartment on the Upper West Side with colleagues, family and friends.

Pat was an amazing mentor to me during my time at Columbia. So generous, a brilliant methodologist and writer. She will surely be missed!

I miss my mother, the incomparable, Pat Cohen. The past few years were difficult due to her illness. Now the good memories are flooding back. So many wonderful times. She had a good life, she was a good person, she loved and was loved. I will cherish the good memories and let the sad ones float away. I love you Mom, your daughter, Erika

Auntie Pat is the epitome of the rich, eccentric, powerful, vibrant, refined and successful relative that many of us often state we wished we had. She is 100 % that, along with sincere, thoughtful and just really a great down to earth person. She has accomplished a great deal while here, one of them being a wonderful Aunt.
Hugs to all for now until we get together.
Love,
Niece and Cousin Ann
