Rochelle Berkowitz Obituary

BERKOWITZ--Rochelle, (nee Farber). Died peacefully with her loved ones around her on February 29th, 2008. She was a beloved wife for 55 years of Edward Berkowitz. The most wonderful mother of Meryl (Stuart), Ira (Chava), Gary (Eva). Adoring grandmother of 12. Loving aunt, sister-inlaw, sister, and friend. Rochelle graduated Hunter College and had a life long love affair with books and art. She was beautiful both inside and out. She touched all whose lives she met. She spent her life making everyone else's easier and more beautiful. There is nothing she loved more than her family, most of all her beloved Eddy.

Elizabeth sent me the sad news . I
wasn't very close geographically but I thought of everyone on many occasions whether I was there or not. There were many good old days, too. And I want to say a special hello to Eddie
whose presence
with Rochelle could always make us believe that the joyous family events, and even the saddest
ones, also, would go on and on as they always had before. I will miss getting lost with the two of you drving behind us in Swampscott.

Rochelle Berkowitz epitomized the perfection of Donna Reed and the graciousness of Loretta Young. Except, of course, she was real and beautifully human.
My family and I extend our deepest sympathy to the Berkowitz/Kirshenbaum families. We are among those whose lives were improved by this elegant, earthy, wonderful woman.

My deepest sympathy for all of the family. She was my closest relative, always warm, concerned, caring, forthcoming and self-effacing with me. I could never forget her in any way. I'm just sorry that geographical distance separated us for so long in the last few years. Though Susan and Lesley had less time with her, they echo my sentiments and convey their sense of loss.
