SIDNEY LERNER

LERNER--Sidney. American Jewish Committee is deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and profoundly dedicated partner. A legend in the advertising industry and a master of strategic communications, Sid tirelessly put his talents to the service of his high ideals. At AJC, with tremendous generosity, he funded and helped guide our multiplatform global media campaigns and established our Lerner Media Center. Motivated by a passion for building interreligious respect, he also helped advance AJC's many efforts to write a new chapter in global Muslim-Jewish relations. Together with his beloved wife, Helaine, his partner in all endeavors, Sid sought to push back boldly against the social toxins of antisemitism and anti-Zionism, while helping forge a brighter Jewish future, and a more hospitable, healthier world for all. In fact, in addition to his work with AJC, among other efforts, he was devoted to promoting public health. His lasting legacies in that arena include Meatless Mondays, an extremely successful campaign he launched with Johns Hopkins University. He was delighted that Meatless Mondays has inspired millions of individuals to reduce meat consumption, increase plant- based eating, and ensure a more sustainable planet. His AJC family will greatly miss our cherished friend, Sid, and always remember his brilliance and indefatigable efforts to move our mission forward. At this very difficult time, we send heartfelt condolences to his wife, Helaine, to whom we at AJC feel so close, to his sister, Ethel, and his sister-in-law, Joan. Harriet P.
