John Bunn Obituary

WESTGATE - John H. Bunn, 66 of Westgate, died Thursday morning, Nov. 1, 2012 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Maynard, with the Rev. Ian Wolfe officiating. Interment will be in Long Grove Cemetery at Maynard.
Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.

John Homer Bunn was born June 20, 1946 at Oelwein, Iowa, the son of Homer and Letha Ora (Prideaux) Bunn. He graduated from the Maynard High School in 1964. On Sept. 28, 1964, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Loyce Louise Lenius at Sumner. John and Loyce farmed in the Westgate area for many years and also owned and operated the Westgate Tap for 10 years. He served on the West Central School Board for 20 years and as Fayette County Supervisor for 8 years. John was a past member of Sunnyside Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M. 510 of Maynard. He also was a member of the Fayette County Pork Producers, Fayette County Beef Producers and St. Paul Lutheran Church. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time at the river, going to coffee, visiting with people and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Loyce Bunn of Westgate; five children, Randy Bunn of Lansing, Rodney (Beth) Bunn of Story City, Jamie (Kaaren Olesen) Bunn of Clive, Tera (Tom) Sperfslage of Oelwein and Mary Beth (Andy) Maloney of Center Point; 11 grandchildren, Luke and Nick Neunsinger, Jennica Bunn, Wyatt and Will Bunn, Hans and Moses Bunn, Parker and Tanner Sperfslage and AJ and Ava Maloney; five brothers, Albert (Judy) Bunn of Maynard, Robert (Shirley) Bunn of Maynard, Paul Bunn of West Union, David (Marj) Bunn of Maynard, Don (Ann) Bunn of Maynard; one sister Mary Kay Diem of Bettendorf; a sister-in-law Joy (John) Meyer of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; German Foreign Exchange children, Ali Keiri and Stefanie (Kohl) Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Kasey Ruth Eva Sperfslage in 2008; sister-in-law Janet Bunn; and parents-in-law Theodore and Gertrude Lenius.
