John Lounsberry Obituary

STORY CITY - John Douglas Lounsberry, 56, of Story City, passed away in his home Thursday, June 5, 2014 after a two-year battle of cancer. He was surrounded by his wife Lorijo (Helland) Lounsberry and his three children, Brian, Kevin and Lynn. John, born Aug. 18, 1957, was the son of Winnifred (Barrett) Lounsberry and Max Lounsberry of Zearing.
He is survived by his mother, Winnie Lounsberry, his brother Tom and wife Denise Lounsberry and their two children Nicholas and Andrew. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ann and her husband Greg Ruble, his brother-in-law Kurt Helland and girlfriend Jody Horning.
John worked at Oakland Corporation for the past 17 years. He enjoyed working with his dear friends and his boss (brother in Christ) Roger Oakland. John thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and watching sports. He was a die-hard Hawkeye fan most recently, Iowa Wild Hockey.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
His visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 10 and his funeral will be Wednesday, June 11 at 1 p.m. Both services will be held at Grace United Methodist Church in Story City.
Memorials can be directed to UMC Youth at Grace United Methodist Church, Story City.
