Alice Testa Obituary

Alice Martin Testa

Alice Martin Testa, 82, died March 28, 2005, after a long, courageous battle with cancer for 14 years.

An area resident her entire life, she attended Kent State University and graduated in 1944 with a B.A. degree. After marrying and raising a family, she returned to college, attended Akron University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in education. She taught in the Akron system for over 20 years and retired in 1977. In 1967, she received the "Jennings Award" as an outstanding teacher. She was a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honor sorority for teachers, and a member of Ohio and Summit County Retired Teach ers. She was also a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Abruzzese Society, and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Preceded in death by mother, Virginia, and father, Michael C. Martin; and brother, Andrew, she leaves her husband of 60 years, Dan G. Testa; sons, Da vid (Karen) and Steven; daugh ter, Susan (Gregg) Gill; grandchildren, Nathan and Nicholas Gill, and Frankie, Daniel, and Courtney Testa; sister, Norma (Paul) Schmidt; and brother, Al bert (Tina) Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Church, 83 Mosser Place, with Fr. James Ragnoni officiatng. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. TODAY at the Hennessy Funeral Home (formerly Rossi), 552 N. Main St., Akron. Those who wish may make contributions to the St. Anthony's School Fund. The family would like to express a sincere thank-you to the Hospice nurses and all the caregiv ers for their great care given to Mrs. Testa. (HENNESSY FUNERAL HOME, Family Owned, 330-376-3032.)
