Anne Benedict Obituary
She was the wife of the late Rev. Eugene M. Benedict.
She was born in East Palestine, Ohio on June 1, 1917 to the Rev. C. Clare and Bertha Davis. A 1938 graduate of Muskingum College, she taught Latin and Kindergarten for many years in the Woodridge Local Schools. She was named a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar as an outstanding classroom teacher.
Mrs. Benedict was a member of the Peninsula United Methodist Church for more than sixty years where she served as choir director. For many years, she recorded books on tape for the Cleveland Sight Center.
She is survived by her children, Claudia Haskins (Chapel Hill, N.C.), Mark Benedict (Carmel, Ind.), Anne Beavin (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio); grandchildren, Jennifer Shrewsbury (Durham, N.C.), Jason Haskins (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Amy Hanshew (Westfield, Ind.), Gregory Benedict (Indianapolis, Ind.), Shannon Robinson (Morrisville, N.C.); six great-grandchildren; and her sister, Vivien Reid (Sebring, Ohio).
A celebration of life reception with the family will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Peninsula United Methodist Church, 1575 Main Street, Peninsula, Ohio. Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Peninsula United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. To the Benedict family- Mrs. Benedict was my very first teacher, Kindergarten in Peninsula. I have many vivid memories of her from that year! She shaped so many minds over the years. And touched so many lives. My sympathies in your loss.

Gratias tibi ago, meus magister! My deepest sympathies to Mrs. B's family. She was a great teacher beyond her subject! I think of her often and remember her for her warmth and sense of humor. And putting up with a know-it-all senior in a class of freshman!

Blessings to you the family of Anne. I remember many Sundays in church and over a fine meal in the home of Rev. and Anne.
They both were an example for me for life and an influence for my going into full time ministry. She shall be missed!

I remember Mrs. Benedict from years ago. She was a fine example of a wife, a mother , a friend, and one who cared about her community. I had seen her a few times in recent years ; she was always cheerful and welcoming to all. Celebrate her wonderful life.
