Bob Hammond Obituary
Bob (Lloyd) Hammond, age 74, of Hartville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, the twelfth of June.
Born August 6, 1942 in Cullman, Alabama, Bob was a pillar of strength and kindness in his family, in his church, and in his career. He is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy (Dykes); sisters, Linda (Bill, deceased) Beaver and Barbara (Marvin) McGraw; children, Kimmy (Pete) Savcic, Rhonda, Michael, Robbie, and Elizabeth (Buddy) Baker; nine grandchildren that he loved dearly; four great-grandchildren; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Audrey; brothers, Sonny, Jay, Harvey, Johnny and Larry; and his sister, Kathy Beth (Boyett).
For nearly fifty years, Bob was a proud and dedicated member of the Akron Police Department. Joining the force in 1969, he split his first six years between Patrol and SWAT before joining the Detective Bureau in 1976 where he spent the next sixteen years. Bob reached the rank of Sergeant four years before his retirement in 1996. He would remain on Reserve from his retirement all the way through to his death. Bob was an incredibly hard working man, co-owning Bob's Piano Moving for over twenty years with his wife. He was also an avid fisherman and hunter. Bob loved being with his grandchildren and was a committed member of the Solid Rock Church in Hartville.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I really didn't know him all that well but he was always there when I needed to switch or he would fill in, he was always so pleasent to talk to. He will be missed by all. God bless your family. The Sturm family.

Peggy, I'm so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. You were both so caring when you came to Colorado when Harvey was sick. Thank you for that.
Bob was always a lot of fun and we all loved him.

Such a great man Bob was,I'm still lost for words there's so much greatness that Bob had in my life & the life of my son Michael Hammond whom he was his grandfather.. Michael's role model, Bob made the man my son is today an achievement so phenomenal in his life I can't emphasize enough how thankful I am. Peggy my deepest condolences are with you, Bob was your everything & his memories will live on forever! I give my thanks to you also in your part in my son's life. I met Bob about 6 years ago when he was doing security work.He was a great guy and had a great sense of humor.He always had a story to tell.He loved his family and talked about them all the time.You will be missed Bob...R.I.P.

So very sorry about Bob. He was the nicest, sweetest, kindest, generous man I have ever known. His sense of humor was one of his best assets. He always had a joke for me. At CSL, we would work the word jumble together and talk about his childhood and neighborhood in South Akron. We grew up in the same neighborhood. He always spoke about his family and how much they meant to him. His mind was sharp and he was respected by all who knew him. The staff at CSL and the donors alike all knew and respected Bob and he loved to talk. I will miss him terribly. God Bless all of you, and I am so grateful that he was in my life for the few years I have known him. My husband Allen and I also want to give Mike our deepest sympathy in the loss of his Dad.
