Claude Simmons Obituary
Claude J. Simmons, 76, died Dec. 10, 2002, after a sudden illness.
An Akron native, Mr. Simmons had been the owner operator of the Grant Street Marathon station for a number of years. A World War II Navy veteran, he was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Le gion. He was also a member of Fraternal Order of Ea gles 555, where he was past presi dent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude B. and Mary Sim mons; sisters, Suzanne Simmons, Patricia DiMarco, Frances Walters, Gertrude Rollyson, Anne Simmons; and brothers, Bill, Robert and Da vid.
His survivors include children, Dick (Sandy) Reeves of East Fultonham, Ohio, Shirley (Bo) Walizewski of St. Louis, Mo., Ed (Paula) Sim mons, Gary Simmons, Carole (Brad) Browning, Cathy Simmons Murray, all of Akron; stepchildren, Melanie, Gary, and Holly; grandchil dren, Chris, Julie, Angie, Dawn, Michalyn, and Rusty; sister, Agnes Simmons of Las Vegas, Nev.; brother, James E. (Rose) of Bonita Springs, Fla.; niece and dear friend, Fran Rouser.
Calling hours will be TONIGHT from 5 to 8 at the Dunn-Quigley Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home (811 Grant St.), where the F.O.E. will conduct services at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
