Earnest L. Eldridge

Earnest L. Eldridge 90 of Rootstown died Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

He was born June 22, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to Elex and Susie (Sharp) Eldridge. Earnest was a US Navy veteran, as well as serving in the Ohio National Guard. A member of the Adoniram Lodge #517 F. & A.M. in Akron, he worked as an Engineer & Specification Manager for General Tire from 1948 to 1985 and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron.

Survivors include his children: Deanna "Dee" (John) Webb of Ravenna and Lindy Eldridge of Rootstown; granddaughter, Stephanie Dickson; stepgrandchildren, Travis and Jared; and a brother, William of Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sylvia in 2016; and siblings: Mary Cassel, Sabre Klein, Curtis Eldridge, Esther Kandal and Betty Ausel.

Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with Masonic services at 3:45 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018 at the funeral home with Chaplain Bill Wisniewski officiating. Burial will follow in Homeland Cemetery in Rootstown. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
