Juanita Simon Obituary
Mother Simon, as many came to know her was born October 5, 1927 in Nashville, Tenn. to Oliver Miller and Juanita Rollar.
Mother Simon gave to everyone what God gave her, LOVE. As most will confess she was always willing to give of herself to make someone else's life a little better. Mother Simon loved cooking for family and friends, praying for the sick, visiting hospitals and nursing homes. She loved her God and church, her family and friends, and all of God's little children.
Juanita met and married her late husband Otto Simon in 1961. During that time she worked as a beautician, a Nurse's Aide at Barberton Citizens Hospital, and a foster parent with CSB. The couple resided in Barberton, Ohio for most of their life. They adopted one daughter, Carol Simon Wilkes and were foster parents to nearly 20 other children. She joined Holiness Church of Christ in Akron, OH in 1974 under the leadership of Apostle Sam Sallis. She was a faithful member, devoted Sunday school teacher, and missionary leader supporting both local and foreign missions.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents; her devoted husband of 43 years, Otto Simon Sr; and her sister, Helen Miller. She leaves behind daughter, Carol Simon Wilkes and husband Derrick Wilkes; sons, Otto Jr. and Albert Singlton; grandchildren, Tachinicka Simon Elton, Antwaunette and Cionna Rogers; great-grandchild, Lailah Hill; nephew and niece, Andrew and Karen Johnson; also niece, Dalcynthia Barnett; godson, Ivory Watson wife Crystal Watson; adopted family, Annie Hunt, Mary Conwell, Haydee Turner, and Dorthy Arnold. She leaves behind a host of friends and relatives.
Service will be held Friday, March 2, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, Oh 44307, Pastor Jeffrey Bell officiating. Interment Monday, March 5, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at Holiness Church of Christ Deliverance Center, 1820 S. Hawkins Ave., Akron, OH 44314 and condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 5189, West Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44334.

To the family of Mrs. Juanita. I am going to miss her. She was a women of wisdom and I will treasure them forever. We had alot of fun when I cleaned her apartment on Mull Ave. She loved my sweet potatoe pies and looked forward to them at Thanksgiving time. I am so glad she got to come spend Thanksgiving we my family a couple years ago. She was a strong woman and never let her sickness get the best of her. I'm gonna miss her but she will always be in my heart.
