Ralph D. McCormick

Ralph D. McCormick, 80, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Akron City Hospital.

Ralph was born March 26, 1933 to Daniel and Gertrude (Roth) McCormick in Akron and had been an area resident his entire life. He was employed by Ohio Bell for over 37 years, retiring in 1990. He was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where he served as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the Ohio Bell Foreman's Club.

Ralph's vocation was husband and father. He leaves his beloved wife of 54 years, Jane (nee Walsh); sons, Daniel (Beth) and Dennis (Kathleen) McCormick; grandchildren, Mallory and Amanda McCormick, Dana (Aaron) Harold and Shane (Megan) Trigg; great-grandchildren, Megan, Jenna and Grant Harold and Jack and Luke Trigg. He was preceded in death by his son, David in 2012 and by his siblings, Jack, Mary Ellen, Margie and Jeanne.

The family is grateful to Dr. Douglas Trochelman, Dr. Ron R. Jones and the staff of the cancer center for their many hours of dedicated medical care of Ralph, to Frs. David R. Durkee and Joseph O'Donnell for their many prayers visits, blessings and acts of kindness shown to Ralph and our family in our hours of need and to our Queen of Heaven family for standing by us in the worst of times.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 1800 Steese Rd., Uniontown OH 44685. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends TODAY, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Anthony and Son Funeral Home, 4178 Massillon Road (corner of Massillon and Steese Roads in Green, entrance off Steese), where a Holy Name Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Please, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Queen of Heaven Catholic Church.

Ralph was a man dedicated to his family and church. I always admired his gracious spirit to do whatever he was asked to do at church to assist the pastor. We had great meals together and his stories were just as filling. I am not sure who supported who but Ralph and Jane were always together and on the same page. Be at peace oh good and faith-filled and faithful servant. I am so sorry for your loss.

Our deepest condolences to the McCormick family at this most difficult time. We were greatly saddened at the loss of Dave last year, as we were students & friends of his since 1988. It is certain that Dave welcomed him with arms wide open & a warm embrace. Father & Son together again, and side by side they will watch over you all until you meet again. God Bless.

We are so deeply sorry for the loss of your beloved husband and father. Ralph was truly a great man and an example of faith to all. He always had a kind word and a gentle smile. Ralph was a wonderful neighbor. I'm so blessed to have known & love him & Jane. I always enjoyed his stories about the war, work, family & the neighborhood. I remember when I moved in, Ralph always put orange lights on his tree in the front yard for the fall & halloween season, I loved them ! So, Ralph & Jane gave me a full set of orange lights for my tree one year. It was a tradition between us. I will miss Ralph & his many stories. My sympathy, love & Prayers are with the family. I met Ralph and Jane years ago at Nativity Catholic Church Even after he went to Queen of Heaven, he came back every year to help with our annual spaghetti dinner/fundraiser. Ralph was a delight: dedicated, hard working, kind and perfectly ornery. I am blessed to have crossed paths with such a wonderful person. My deepest sympathy to you Jane.

Ralph was my sister's neighbor and he would visit us often during our outside parties/bon-fires. We all will miss him greatly.He was a great man and neighbor.
