Of Long Beach, California. Funeral services will be held at Stricklin/Snively Mortuary, on Friday, October 24, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in Long Beach, California, followed by a private burial at sea off the coast of Newport Beach. Tim Cook died Friday, October 17, 2003 at the Cedar Sinai Medical Center after a lengthy illness associated with complications of diabetes. Tim was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Long Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Association of Diabetes in his honor. Tim was born on June 17, 1949 to Donald and Virginia Cook in Virginia, Minnesota. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1971 and became a CPA with one of the largest national CPA firms. He transferred to the San Francisco Bay area in 1973. In 1974 he joined the management team at Continental Airlines in Los Angeles and in 1979 he began his career with Prudential Insurance Company. Tim held many management and senior executive positions at Prudential which took him from Los Angeles to New York City and back to Orange County, CA. After retirement in 2000 he moved to a beach-front home in Long Beach. He will be remembered for his professional integrity, compassion, and sense of humor. He will be missed by his life partner and companion of 20 years, Edwin, as well as his many friends and business associates who admired his caring, giving outlook on life. Survivors include his life partner, Edwin Aiwaz of Long Beach, CA, brother, John Cook, numerous friends and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents in 1991.
