Funeral service Tuesday, 1 p.m., at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312, with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger and Pastor Donald Gainer officiating. Burial at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m. (Hopkins Lawver, AKRON, 330-733-6271)

I am so very sorry to hear this news. I was shocked to say to least. I will always cherish the memories of our childhood going camping, parties and all of the good times our families had together. Your parents will always be one of my fondest memories as a child. They will always be Aunt Janet and Uncle Bill to me.

My sincerest sympathy to all of you at Bill's sudden passing. I worked at Omnova for 39 years and always found Bill to be hard working, honest, and a pleasant guy to talk with. Bill was our neighbor, he was so kind and caring. I will never forget the early mornings around 7, when my windows were open I would always smell the sent of a cigar, and the sound of his lawn mower. We will miss seeing your smiling face !!!

Kim, Gwen, Sandy and families, we are greatly shocked and saddened by Bill's death. He was an important part of my life growing up, patiently showing a 13 year old always hanging around the garage (me) how to use tools and help him on his cool car of the moment, taking me water skiing with he and Jan, mentoring me on the Fire Dept. and becoming a dear, dear friend. Over the years, we spent many, many nights in the garage working on many cars together and emptying a few kegs in the process. Becky and I always looked forward to the dances, parties and times together with your parents - they were the best. While we can't be there with you, please know that we send our deepest sympathy and love to all of you in your time of sorrow.

As a little girl and a member of the Lakemore Fire Dept family, Mr. Stafford was one of our dads and the one who, with just a look, could scare the dickens out of anyone!! I loved him, we all did! The cigars, the cars, the very presence of him will forever be missed. Kim, Gwen and your families, know that we love you very much and we will hold you in prayers during this difficult time.
