JAMES JOHNSON Obituary

James Perry Johnson
Nov. 18, 1942 - Dec. 26, 2020

OKLAHOMA CITY AND GRAPEVINE, TX
Jimmy was born in St. Louis to James J. Johnson and Virginia Walsh Hawkins Johnson. He is survived by his wife Linda (married January 15, 1972), son Zandt (Brooke) and his grand-children Ethan and Aria. He is also survived by his sister Jane and her son Brett. Jimmy died of multiple long term health issues about a month after contracting COVID. He graduated from Northwest Classen High School and OSU where he obtained a Master's in Mathematics and Engineering. He entered the Air Force and then moved on to a career with IBM. He started out working for NASA with the Federal Systems Division of IBM. He later became an instructor. After retiring from IBM he worked for several non-profit mental health groups, traveling the state of Oklahoma. He wanted to help as many people with mental health issues as possible, being bipolar himself. Jimmy was a kind soul who never put money or material things before people. He was an avid collector of most things nostalgic. He enjoyed jogging and all sports, especially college basketball and football. Jimmy loved his loyal Delts who were with him always, especially during difficult times. Dad, I will miss your loving, patient and endless attention that you so willingly gave. In your absence I truly now realize how great a father you were. We know that all of your pain and anxiety are gone and you are now in the loving arms of Jesus Christ. A virtual memorial will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any mental health organization or other charity of your choice.

Still missing your lovely smile and your sense of goodness to everyone always! You were a great guy, gone to soon but spent your entire life reaching out to others to help with any problems they might have. Thank you for being a caring and loving husband to my sister and a wonderful father and grandpa to your son Zandt and his family. Love you forever! xoxoxox Len and Judy Nagel

Linda and Zandt: What a great tribute to Jimmy who I consider to have been one of my very best friends of all time. Many people could say that about Jimmy. He loved both of you so much. Whenever we visited by phone, he always spoke glowingly about his grandchildren, Ethan and Aria.
