John Marr Obituary
Mr. Marr was the son of the late John D. Marr Sr. and Virginia Greer Marr.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Pratt Marr of Lake Monticello; his son, John David Marr of Wilmington, North Carolina, currently of Baghdad, Iraq; his son, William Michael Marr of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; his daughter, Pamela Jo Marr of Wilmington, North Carolina; four grandchildren; his brother, Bill Marr of Boone, North Carolina; and sisters, Virginia Shuford of Cedar Mountain, North Carolina, and JoAnn Paige of Hudson, North Carolina.
Mr. Marr was a veteran of the United States Air Force, supporting missile and space launches in the Caribbean and South Atlantic in the 1960s. He was a graduate of Appalachian State University and earned a masters degree in geology from the University of New Orleans. Mr. Marr retired in 2004 as a senior geologist with 29 years with the Virginia Division of Mineral Resources.
A memorial gathering will be held 11 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Teague Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to the Lake Monticello Fire and Rescue Squad, 10 Slice Road, Palmyra, VA 22963.
