Robert Young "Bobby" Audd

Robert Audd Obituary

Robert 'Bobby' Young Audd, beloved husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle, and grandfather, died peacefully Monday morning, December 18, 2006 in Oklahoma City, OK, following a year long battle with cancer. He was born June 30, 1920 in Muskogee, OK, to Clarence Young and Lura Darlene (McGrady) Audd. He graduated from Tulsa's Central High School in 1939 and Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) in 1943. His professional career as a Southern Baptist minister included service in several Oklahoma communities: Pocasset, Hinton, El Reno, Guthrie, Tulsa, Shawnee, Muskogee, Tonkawa, Midwest City, and Oklahoma City. After retiring in 1986 from the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, he continued as a minister wherever he was needed. He met Martha Rose Jones of Oklahoma City while attending OBU and they married in 1943. The couple continued their educations at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX, returning to Oklahoma in 1947. Throughout their life together they were a team serving the Lord: Robert in the pulpit and Martha Rose playing the piano, singing in the choir or organizing the library. Their partnership extended to the raising of their children with a never wavering devotion to each other and their family. Throughout Martha Rose's final years as she suffered from dementia, Robert cared for her at home until he was diagnosed with cancer in September of 2005. She passed away January 2, 2006, just a few months shy of their 63rd wedding anniversary. Robert is survived by three children: Richard Martin Audd of Los Angeles, CA, Robert Lewis Audd of Moodys, OK, and Mary Kay Audd of Oklahoma City; grandchildren, Michael Eilers of Tulsa, OK, and Lindsay Ann Audd of Tahlequah, OK, as well as nieces and nephews in Texas, Michigan, Montana, Colorado and California. He loved to take his family on road trips and the destination didn't matter. He loved to work in the yard by mowing the lawn, planting flowers or raking leaves. He loved to sing, making a joyful noise to praise and honor his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was a man who appreciated simple pleasures, respected people from all walks of life, and taught his children that having lots of 'things' was not the secret of happiness. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church for 30 years. He sang in the Glory Gang, a senior adult choir that performed in nursing homes, retirement centers and private homes bringing joy to those who could no longer attend church services. He recently joined Quail Springs Baptist Church and was looking forward to getting to know his new church family and witnessing the planned expansion of its facilities. The family will greet visitors on Wednesday, December 20 from 2 pm - 5 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home, 6006 N. Grand Blvd., OKC, OK 73118. A memorial service and reception for friends and family will begin at 2 pm, Thursday, December 21st, at Northwest Baptist Church, 23rd and Drexel, in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to honor the memory of Robert 'Bobby' Audd are asked to donate in his name to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children, 3800 N. May Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73112 (405-942-3000), or, the American Cancer Society, 6525 N. Meridian, Suite #110, Oklahoma City, OK 73116 (405-843-9888).

Richard, Robert, and Mary Kay,

Your Dad was our pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Tulsa during the early and mid 1950’s. If memory serves correctly, Mary Kay, you were an infant when your parents came to lead us. We remember your granddad who stayed with your family a while in the house in the 1400 bock of North Main Street. My family lived across the street on the corner from the church on North Cincinnati. My parents were Dick and Marguerite Koder and we were all members of the church. I also have a younger sister named Karen; may be you boys were old enough to remember. In 1956, your Dad counseled my fiancé and me prior to our marriage. He was then called to be associate pastor at Immanuel and was lovely enough to return to officiate at our marriage. We would have had it no other way. We celebrated 50 years last October; he counseled well. He and your Mom, Martha Rose, were most dear to use as they saw us through our high school years. Your Dad baptized my Husband, Dad, and Sister. We remember them with love and admiration. Please accept our loving condolences in the loss of your beloved Christian parents.

Having met Pastor and Mrs. Audd through our friendship with Mary Kay, may we express our sympathies on his passing. If our lives could parallel the working faith, respect, character of he and Mrs. Audd, the 'touch' of friendship and faith, will continue within each of us. To the boys and Mary Kay, what a wonderful legacy you were left by your parents.

Bob, I miss playing the piano for your devotional periods at your Town Village residence. For several years, you led the hymn singing at Northwest Baptist and I enjoyed being your pianist. Our birthdays were only a week apart...yours first. We'll see Jesus, Martha Rose and you soon.

Thank you so much to all the many, many friends of Bob Audd who prayed for him and my mother, Martha Rose, in the past 18 months. Without your love, support and concern so many days would have been too much to bear. They are together again with God and Jesus - that is my comfort!
Happy New Year!

Bro Bobby was our pastor at Temple Baptist Church in Tulsa, OK when we were in the youth department at that time. We have such fond memories of Bobby and Martha Rose and the influence they had on us. Their children were quite young at that time. We lift their family in our prayers for peace and comfort.

I am so sorry to hear that Pastor Audd passed away. I met Bob in 1995 while out walking by his house in May of 1995. I am an Oklahoma City Bombing survivor, and was walking to help with the stress. He could sense my distress and introduced himself. We became friends and had many conversations when he was outside and I was walking by. He prayed with me and tried to encourage me to forgive and let my light shine. He was a true Christian and a great friend. God was still using him to minister to the hurting people. God Bless Bobby for being there for me. May God give his family peace and comfort in this difficult time. Cecil Elliott
