"Red" Goodson June 9, 1948 - September 25, 2018 YUKON Verlin Ray "Red" Goodson was born June 9, 1948 in Gainesville, TX to Lillian and George Goodson, and entered into rest on Sept. 25, 2018 in Okla. City, OK. Red graduated high school in Marietta, OK in 1966. He was then drafted by the United States Army, where he served one tour in Vietnam, before being honorably discharged in Dec. of 1970. On Apr. 10, 1970, Red married Susan Jean Borders in Austin, TX. They made their home in Stillwater, OK where Red attended Oklahoma State University to obtain his Agricultural Education degree. After graduation, they moved to Adair, OK where Red taught for three years. In the summer of 1976, he accepted the Vocational Agriculture job at Yukon High School where he would spend the next 23 years. Red loved spending time with his family, attending his grandkids sporting events, anything to do with pigs, fishing, riding his Harley and mowing the yard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and George; his wife Susan; and a grandson, Tate Ryan Goodson. He is survived by two brothers, Larry Goodson and wife Paula of Sherman, TX and Bobby Goodson and wife Pam of Phoenix, AZ; three sons and their wives, Matt and Sarah Goodson of Cashion, OK, Mark and Brenda Goodson of Durant, OK and Mike and Stephanie Goodson of Yukon, OK; "daughter" Jamie Goodson of Yukon, OK; grandsons, Gatlin, Tanner, Crew and Keller Goodson; and numerous other "children" he adopted along the way. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Goodson Keeps Giving Jackpot Fund at Great Plains National Bank (12001 NW Expressway, Yukon, OK 73099). One of Red's favorite things was being able to help kids, who may not have the opportunity otherwise, buy and feed a show pig. His family would love to continue this tradition in his honor by picking a deserving kid each year and aiding them with a show project, just as Mr. Goodson would have done. Viewing will be held 9am-8pm, Thurs., Sept. 27, 2018, at Yanda & Son Funeral Home, Yukon. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10am, Fri., Sept. 28, at Trinity Baptist Church, 620 N.
