Andrew Gerwitz Obituary
WEST VALLEY - Andrew S. "Andy" Gerwitz, of West Valley, passed away Sunday (Oct. 22, 2023) at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, at the age of 53.
He was born July 3, 1970, a son of Peggy Kuhn Gerwitz of Ellicottville and the late James Gerwitz.
He was an operator at AK Construction in Buffalo, and in his free time he enjoyed spending time in the woods doing various activities: hunting, camping, driving his Jeep, hiking with his dogs and fishing with his grandson.
In addition to his mom, he is survived by his loving partner, Becky Schmitt of West Valley; daughters, Ashley (Kevin Hanson) Gerwitz of Salamanca and Hannah (Jeremy Green) Gerwitz of Ellicottville; siblings, Rita (Rick) Browning of Critz, Va., Larry Gerwitz of Ellicottville, Jim (Chris) Gerwitz of Sanborn and Joe (Anna Linderman) Gerwitz of Ellicottville; grandson, Leo Gerwitz; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (Oct. 27, 2023) at the Smith-Weismantel Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St. Springville. A Celebration of Life will be held at noon Saturday (Oct. 28, 2023) at Andy and Becky's home, with final interment taking place in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in West Valley.
