Robert B. ""Bob"" Frazier

CUBA - Robert B. "Bob" Frazier, 89, of 30 Maple St., Cuba, passed away Saturday (Feb. 1, 2014), at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Palliative Care Program after a lengthy illness.
Born at home, Bob was a son of Robert B. and Sarah L. McVey Frazier.
Mr. Frazier served his country in the Untied States Army from 1945 to 1946, and after being honorable discharged he attended Houghton College, where he received an degree in electrical engineering. Bob was a quality control inspector for Acme Electric Corp in Cuba, retiring after 48 years of employment.
Mr. Frazier was a member of Cuba-Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM, where he was past master and a member of the past masters association. He was a member of the 32 Scottish Rite of both the Jamestown and Buffalo Consistory. Bob was an elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Cuba and had been treasurer of the Sunday school for many years. After the church closed he became a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba. He was a member of the Cuba VFW Post 2721, the Cuba American Legion Post 655, The Shawn M. Clemens Memorial Am Vets Post 1 of Cuba, the Robert Howden VFW of Belfast. He was very involved with the Greenway Trail, the Shalmut Historical Society, and the Cuba Historical Society.
Bob was most notably known for his involvement with many of the area Boy Scout troops for over 65 years. He was a member and leader of Cuba Boy Scout Troop 708, 760 Belfast, and 621 Olean. He served on many District Committees, and was a Unit Commissioner. He was an instructor at Elk Lick Scout Camp, but most importantly he was the founder of Ice Camp that is still being held today on Cuba Lake. He donated his cottage for 43 plus years, and when Ice Camp was at its peak, there were more than 500 different troops in attendance from all over the United States and Canada. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, which was a vigil member title, a Silver Beaver Recipient which was the highest honorary award given to any scout.
Surviving are a cousin, Elizabeth "Besty" (Milton) Hubbard of Cuba; and a lifetime of friends.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014), at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service Inc., 9 Bull St., Cuba Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 6, 2014), in the First Baptist Church of Cuba, 17 South St., Cuba. The Rev. Larry A. Poelma will officiate. Members of Cuba Friendship Masonic Lodge #306 F&AM will assemble in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, for Masonic Services. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery, Cuba.
