William Peterson Obituary
Born on Aug. 21, 1944, in Olean, he was a son of Carl A. and Phyllis Beck Peterson. On Dec. 31, 1964, in Olean he married Sharon A. Bowen, who predeceased him Aug. 1, 2011.
Mr. Peterson was raised in Olean and worked for Dresser-Rand for many years prior to his retirement. He had been a member of United Steelworkers Union Local 4601.
He was a family man, always enjoying get-togethers and cookouts. He also made many friends at Total Senior Care, where he spent many of his recent days. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan as well.
Surviving are four daughters, Debra Peterson, Cheryl Peterson and Patricia (Michael) Smith, all of Olean, and Karen Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Stacey (Andrew) Silvis, William Gayton, Johnathan Perrington Jr., Brandyn Perrington and Tayona Peterson; five great-grandchildren; two sister, Margaret (Russell) Perrington of South Carolina and Cindy (Allen) Whitehead of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister, Bonnie Blauvelt; and two brothers, Donald Peterson and Howard Peterson.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday (June 17, 2016) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean. Services will begin at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. John Lounsbury, pastor of Cornerstone Full Gospel Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.

To Family.
I know this time of pain comes too soon after the lost of your mother. I pray that our father will give you peace and strength to make it through this time of sorrow. I have many fond memories of picnic"s at your first family home. I remember playing on the swing set and in the kiddie pool. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your dad and my parents play jarts and horse shoes. Let's try to stay in touch with family we have remaining my email is [email protected]. My thoughts and prayers are with you all losing your Dad. Uncle Bill is forever in my heart. As a kid I remember driving with my mom and dad to your house on Jay street. Picnics and laughter having fun all of us together. Your dad inboxed me every morning when he was home..'GM love' made my day.
