I was shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of J. Medicine Hat. I knew him as Jent Monk, and we worked together at a comedy club in Michigan in 1988. I remember hanging out with him after the show one night and watching the World Series when the Dodgers were playing the A's. It was the game when Kirk Gibson hit his home run to win the game in the 9th inning. I was sitting with Jent, and right before Gibson hit the home run I said 'He's going to hit it out right here.' Next pitch - BOOM. Everyone in the bar heard it, and an eerie silence came over the whole room. We laughed about it for years afterward, and I teased him later that that night was what inspired him to be a hypnotist. He really found a great niche for himself, and I always liked him. We didn't cross paths in the last few years, but we'd never had a falling out or anything like that. Life just leads people in different directions, and I'm very sorry we didn't get a chance to cross paths in a long time. This is very sad news, as he was so young and full of life. Much comfort and peace to his family, and may his soul live on in us all. Peace.

This is very sad; I worked with him many times in the Cincinnati Clubs. Such a great man and entertainer. Hats off to you J! You will never be forgotten and I highly doubt anyone can come close to what you do!
