Dear Gwen and Family,
I was sorry to hear about Joe's passing. I saw him as a good husband, father, brother and a good friend. Joe Toledo was one of the good guys in my life and served as a positive role models for me while growing up in South Omaha. I will always remember the great times that Vince and I spent with Joe and you at your home when we were just kids at South High. I am sure that you will remember all the fun that Vince and I had with him. You and your family have been in my thughts and prayers. I hope that I will have a chance to see you or the kids when you come to a San Francisco 49er game.
May God Bless you all,

Gwen, Chris, Cathy and Carrie,

It is with heavy heart that we write this, we are so sorry for your loss. Everyone who knew Joe knows what a wonderful person he was. Few other than family and close friends may know how he cared for and helped with his family. Joe was always available to help Grandmother and Grandfather Ryan as well as Ruth and Bob. He would help anyone with anything at any time. He was always there to help us kids when we were younger growing up. Our visits to Omaha were so special and we recall with great happiness your visit to see us here in Tennessee, the trip to Opry Land was and is still a fond memory. We all felt young and happy, Joe being the biggest KID of us all. We remember the rides and how we all repeated over and over until we could hardly walk. Joe was such a gift to the children and everyone loved him so.
God bless and keep you all, he will be missed and remembered.

I worked with Joe at K. We talked often. When I first met him he was still practicing his pitching by daily throwing a rubber ball against a wall. We both shopped for the same cut of pork. I made polish sausage, he made tamales. Joe was the greatest. A real South Omaha legend.
