Ronald Garrett Obituary
Garrett, Ronald Lee
September 30, 1947 - January 10, 2021
Ronald "Skip" Garrett, age 73 of Omaha, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. Skip was raised in Bellevue, NE. After High School, Skip went to the University of Nebraska at Omaha where he studied Economics and Philosophy. Skip was brilliant. He loved to tell stories of the full life he lived. Skip married Pam Fauver in 1974 and had two children, Ronald and Andrea. Shortly after their firstborn "Ronnie"; Skip, Pam, and best friends Bob and Betty McElwain purchased a joint business: Center Hardware. Skip was a hard worker his entire life. Skip was the go-to guy, he could always find the solution to your problem. He lived and loved to help each and every customer that walked through the door. In 2006, after 27 years and three locations, they sold the business. Skip balanced work and play equally, as one should. He loved to ski, hike, backpack, play softball, and was a trap shooting champion. He loved classic cars and a good party! Skip cultivated memories everywhere he went and loved to reminisce. After being diagnosed with Multiple Scleroses in 1992, Skip refused to back down. One could easily give up, but he kept his sense of humor and love of life.
Skip and Pam made a life for their family like no other. They had a piece of paradise living on an "island" in Nebraska. This little slice of Heaven is where they enjoyed hosting family and friends. Like so many others in 2019, Skip and Pam were impacted by the flood. Their strong will and desire to preserve the life they loved motivated them to put up a fight for their beloved home and restore it to its former glory. Like so much of Skip's life, he and Pam put up a fight but didn't show the struggle. Like so many others of 2020, Skip suffered loss. Skip lost his true love, and wife of 46 years; as well as his best friend, Bob. Family and friends are comforted in knowing that Skip is now reunited with them once again.
Skip was preceded in death by his father, Ronald LeRoy Garrett; and wife, Pamela Garrett. Survived by son, Ronald (Cynthia); daughter, Andrea; granddaughter, Bailey; grandson, Bo Jackson; mother, Mary Jane; sister, Sherri (John) Carpenter; nieces, Liz and Laurel of Boise, ID; and brothers-in-law, Mark (Roxanne) Fauver of Flowery Branch GA, Monty (Elisabetta) Fauver of Omaha, and Dave (Sonny) Fauver of Hope Sound, FL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
