Jennie Cody Obituary

Born December, 1942 in Sacramento, California, Jennie Lee Cody was taken by our Lord to Heaven on March 21, 2020 from her family home in Orange, California. She passed away quietly after battling cancer for the last year and five months. A graduate of Inglewood High School, she attended El Camino Community College. After starting a business career at Union Bank, Los Angeles, Jennie met her future husband, James R. Cody, Jr., who was a loan officer at Union Bank. They married on January 25, 1964 at Holy Faith Episcopal Church, Inglewood, CA. The newlyweds moved to Newport Beach, CA when James was transferred to the new Regional Head Office, Union Bank in Orange, CA. Jennie joined Shearson Hammill Stock Brokerage, Newport Beach. They began attending and later joined St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach. Actively engaged in the young couples group, Jennie taught Sunday school, and participated in Church activities for many years. After two sons were born, they moved to Tustin, CA, known for, at that time, an excellent school district to raise their three children - - a daughter was born in this new home. Jennie was a wonderful Wife and Mother, guiding their three children through the school district to California State University, Fullerton, where each of them successfully graduated within their respective degrees of study. When Jennie and James became empty nesters, they purchased a Joseph Eichler mid-century home in Orange, CA. Becoming members of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, they have resided in Orange for the last twenty three years. Jennie enjoyed a very active business career for many years as a Human Resource Personnel Executive and Business Administration Specialist. She owned and operated Cody Business Services as a consultant to business. She retired as Vice President, Human Resources & Administrative Services, for Superior Press, Santa Fe Springs, CA. Everyone Jennie met, grew to love her. Jennie brought joy to everyone around her. She will be missed by many. Jennie was always like sunshine very shining and bright. A successful, loving Mother and Grandmother, she has a legacy of Love; what a great way to leave this world. Preceded in death on September 1, 2019, her mother May Virginia Gaither. Survived by Jennie's loving husband, James Ralph Cody, Jr., celebrating their '56th' Wedding Anniversary on January 25, 2020. Blessed with three children, son James R. Cody, III; son Jeffrey Lee Cody; and daughter Christina Lynn Cody Mazurek; daughter-in-Law, Dr. Bonnie Marie Pittaluga Cody and son-in-Law, Mr. Chris Michael Mazurek, II; six grandchildren, Miss Clarissa June Mazurek; Mr. Chris Michael Mazurek, III; Isabelle Zoey Mazurek; Ryan James Cody; Abigail Sage Mazurek; and Skylar Marie Cody. Jennie Cody's private burial was held on April 3, 2020 at Fairhaven Memorial Park and Mortuary, Santa Ana, Ca which was preceded by the current delay of her scheduled memorial service. A Memorial Service/Celebration of Life will now be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 10:00 AM followed by a reception at 11:00 AM in Trinity United Presbyterian Church, 13922 Prospect Avenue, Santa Ana (714) 544-7850. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
