I had Mr Barrett for Latin. We had the Latin club and competed in Latin baseball as a way of learning. He taught us how to build a catapult. Vale Vale . Mr Barrett! Beth Somers (married name is Meersman)

Mr. Barrett was an inspiration to all that knew him. Great scholar, teacher and friend. He really is a great person and would tell great stories such as driving 100 miles an hour in his Mustang when he was younger in the late 60s or early 70s on ice or tell funny stories of him being IN the Peace Corps. I was lucky enough to be in his English Class. Initially, I was not to be in his English Class and appealed to him for his generosity. He said that if he took me that he would spend so many more hours a week grading papers and his class is already more than full. Of course he took me anyways because he was that kind of man, generous and kind to a fault. He brought Julius Caesar to life and my life long interest and love of all things Roman is because of Pat: Veni, Vidi, Vici. I went to him about 10 years after graduating from High School and asked him about Grad School. He advised me to go for it and be bold and talked about how he went to Cal State Fullerton for grad school himself. A part of him will always stay with me. I was very lucky to have him for a teacher and a friend. Now, I have three boys of my own and with that they have at least one teacher like Pat. However, this is a very high bar. Thank you so very much MR. BARRETT!

I trust that Pat is now up with the REAL Angels, he'll be able to get us another World Series...and maybe another win? After all, we've never lost a World Series!
Pat was a wonderful guy and a real friend. He will be much missed and fondly remembered.

Such wonderful memories spending time with Pat and Katie and family especially camping at Upper Soda Springs in Mammoth. Pat was also my English teacher at Villa Park high school and was very well liked by all. Much love to the family

I worked in the library and remember Pat as a great guy with a great sense of humor. Both of my boys attended VPHS when Pat was there

We were teachers with Pat at Villa Park High School. We liked and respected his good and strong convictions about education and learning. Students loved him.
