Jimmy Craig Walters

Walters, Jimmy Craig 87 Dec. 05, 1925 Feb. 12, 2013 Jimmy C. Walters passed away peacefully at home on Feb. 12, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. Walters and Mary A. (Isbell) Walters; two sisters, Ercyl (Bongard) and Ruth (Barr); and one daughter, Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Norma; daughters, Kerry and Kim; son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Jackie; and grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Walters and Jeff Etlin. Born in Portland, he attended Junction City High School and served proudly in the United States Navy during WWII, the Korean War and the beginning of the Vietnam War. While in the Navy, he worked in communications achieving the rank of Master Chief before accepting an officers commission and retiring as a Lieutenant. He served on-board the USS Brazos, the USS Dixie and the USS Constellation and spent two years at the communications station on Midway Island in the Pacific. After retiring from military service in 1964, he had a second career working for Associated Computer Services in Tigard where he lived for 47 years. Jim was a proud member of Portland PFLAG and an active member of Lake Oswego United Church of Christ. He was a good neighbor and a beloved husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him so very much. A Celebration of Jimmy's life will take place on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m. at Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, 1111 SW Country Club Road. Jim was an animal lover. He never met a cat or dog he didn't love and who didn't love him so, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Best Friends Animal Shelter or the Oregon Humane Society.
