Dale Myers Obituary
NEWARK: A funeral service for Dale L. Myers Sr. will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 North 21st Street, Newark. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery with military honors rendered by Licking County Veterans Alliance. The family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday 4- 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Myers, age 82, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born February 21, 1928 in Nashport, Ohio to his late parents B. Elwood and Ruth (Swigert) Myers. Dale was a 1946 graduate of Newark High School and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War stationed at the Panama Canal. He retired in 1990 from AEP. Dale was a member of Newark Lodge #97 F.&A.M., Teheran Grotto and a 32nd degree Mason with the Valley of Columbus. Together with his wife Evelyn he enjoyed traveling to such places as Europe and all the lower forty-eight states and Alaska. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, O.S.U Football fan and enjoyed eating out. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Evelyn (Thompson) Myers; his son and hunting partner, Dale (Melony) Myers Jr. of Newark; his loving daughter, Christy (Dennis) Acord of Newark; his grandchildren that he adored, Christopher (Lacey) Myers, Kevin (Jamie) Myers, Tiffany (Nick) Bayerl and Alicia (Fiance' Jerry McDaniel) Acord; and his five great grandchildren; brother, Glenn (Joann) Myers of Newark; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents; Dale was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Goodwin.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and support staff at Licking Memorial Hospital E.R. and 5th Floor and to the Special Care Unit at Chapel Grove.
