Edwin Harry Holt

Holt, Edwin Harry "" of Heathrow, Florida passed away from cancer on June 29, 2013. He was 80 years old. Ed was born to Madeline Laura Arzt Holt and Edwin Houston Holt on June 16, 1933 in Philadelphia, PA. The first in his family to receive a college degree, he attended Penn State University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Civil Engineering. Ultimately, he obtained a Master's Degree in Business at Emory University. He served as a pilot at Lackland Air Force base in San Antonio, TX, where he taught many recruits to fly tandem rotor helicopters. Upon leaving the Air Force, he worked for the glass container industry. He later became President and Director of FirstStat Nursing Services. He retired in 1996, although he continued working part time at H & R Block and served as President of the Heathrow Master Association, Inc. He was a member of the Markham Woods Presbyterian Church. Ed grew up in Philadelphia, PA. In high school, he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Johnson. They married in 1954 and created a beautiful family of three children, Edwin Michael (Mike) Holt, Renee Jeanne Holt, and Brian Bitner Holt. Their marriage became a model for their children on building a love that lasts. There was not a day in Ed's life that his family felt he was not happy to see them. Ed was steady, reliable, and generous. His life taught us that above all, a true man is kind and puts others first. We will miss him. A service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the Markham Woods Presbyterian Church, 5210 Markham Woods Rd, Lake Mary. In place of flowers, the family requests donations to the Building Fund at the Markham Woods Presbyterian Church.
