James W. Daley

YORK - James W. Daley, 67, of York, formerly a longtime resident of Framingham, Mass., died, Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

He was married for 44 years to Helen J. (Lumsden) Daley of York.

He was born in Worcester, Mass., the son of Katherine (Cieszynski) Daley of Springvale.

Mr. Daley served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd All-American Airborne.

He worked as a firefighter for the town of Framingham for 30 years. Mr. Daley enjoyed the annual firefighter weekend and he loved boating, fishing and camping. He was a member of the American Legion and was a former member of the Eagles and Elks.

Mr. Daley was known around town as everyone's "Mr. Fix It," and he enjoyed spending time with his wife Helen, their children and grandchildren.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by his children, William J. Daley, and his wife, Sheryl, of York, Kathleen M. Stefanini, and her husband, Charles of Framingham, and Deborah J. Gallagher, and her husband, Robert, of Cape Neddick. He was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Benjamin A. and Carly L. Stefanini, Connor P. and Ryan W. Daley and Thomas R. Gallagher.

His funeral service was Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Norton Funeral Home in Framingham. It was followed by a funeral Mass at St. Stephen Church in Framingham. Burial will be in Maine at a later date.
