Natalie Thomas Obituary

THOMAS, NATALIE C., Natalie Cunningham Thomas, age 48, of Ocoee, passed away at home on Sunday, January 22, 2006, after a five- year battle with cancer. Mrs. Thomas was born May 12, 1957 in Winter Haven. She is survived by her husband, Victor, and their children, Krystal, Loren, Erika, Victor, and Kelli; her parents, John and Alfreda Cunningham of Winter Haven; an uncle, many cousins and family members; and countless friends. Natalie and the children are members of First Baptist Church Orlando. A graduate of Hampton University and UCF with BS degrees in Biology and Medical Technology, she also obtained her master's degree from UCF in Health Sciences. She worked for 20 years in hospitals as a medical technologist. Natalie was most proud of her five precious children and thanked her Lord daily for the privilege of being their mother. Her deep personal faith in Jesus Christ was the source of her great personal strength, hope and peace. She believed that the call on her life was to learn, share and listen to hurting brothers and sisters and be a witness that "without Him (Jesus), you can do nothing" (John 15:5). She was also the author of No More Than I Can Bear, a book about her journey of triumph through adversity. She served her community in numerous leadership roles, including as a lifetime member of Jack and Jill of America. In recognition of her living example of faith and Godly character, The First Academy recently honored her by naming its gymnasium, The Natalie Thomas Gymnasium. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at First Baptist Church Orlando on Wednesday, January 25, 2006 at 1PM, with a reception afterward in Faith Hall. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may send gifts to either the Natalie Thomas and Thomas Children Trust or to The First Academy. Gifts can be sent to: 2667 Bruton Blvd, Orlando, FL 32805.

Memories of my Classmate, Natalie Cunningham Thomas are still fresh. Her personality and appearance complimented each other. Natalie had the sweetest and lovable smile. A natural beauty with curly hair. She was among the most scholarly students in our class. I read her book and shared it with my Book Club. Although I realized her strength and courage, the book brought me to tears. However, she relied on the only One that could give her victory, Our Heavenly Father. Natalie is beholding Christ and she has left a legacy of unconditional love. To her precious adult children, I pray you have continued in the path that your mother established for you. Natalie was a good and faithful person.

When God planted beautiful flowers on this earth, He had Natalie in mind. She was the one of the kindest people I have ever met. We met in first grade at Jewett Primay School in Florence Villa. We were the tallest students in the class so everytime the class left the room in a single file, Natalie and I was always together. Although our lives took different paths, our paths seem to cross at some point in time. During my graduation from college about a thousand miles from Florida, she was there and gave me a memory that I will treasure forever. Once again our paths crossed in Orlando where we both decided to live for a season. She had a kindred spirit within her. She had the Spirit of God and now she is home where our paths will cross yet again. Peace be with her family and May God Bless you with a flower like Natalie.

I've never had the pleasure of knowing Mrs. Natalie Thomas or her family. But after reading an article, I wish I would have had the pleasure of knowing her and being in her presence at least once. Through the article and notice, I have come to know the strength of a woman that many have never met. The Lord does not make mistakes, therefore we should take the strength that she led and taught with and apply it to our life's journey. "No More Than I Can Bear" wasn't a piece of work for herself, but for all. "There are many giant-hearted, selfless servants out there who go above and beyond the normal call of duty." -- Natalie Thomas, No More Than I Can Bear (page 136/"A mother's last wish-Orlando Sentinel). Those who did have the pleasure of knowing her or meeting her, I truly consider Lucky. Blessing are upon All.

To the Thomas children,Mr. and Mrs.Cunningham and Thomas family

Children please carry on the strength your mother exemplified. Don't stop the Christmas/New Year pictures I've received since your birth. I too will continue exchanging our family photos with you during the Christmas season. Always remember your mother loved and dreamed of having each of you before you were even conceived. You are her very Best! Mr. and Mrs. Cunningham, what proud parents you must be to have had such a endearing daughter. The following quote by Eleanor Roosevelt best sums up Natalies character "You have to accept whatever comes and the only important thing is that you meet it with courage and with the best that you have to give." May the Thomas family continue loving, protecting and supporting the dreams of the children of Victor and Natalie.May their children be a bright legacy of that union.

MOMENTS

Our Lives are measured by the minute which turn hours into years, but remembered by the moments made of laughter, Hugs, and kisses of those whom we cherish and love. Those moments we may leave behind are the most notable, Quoteable happenings and it is the moments that we capture while in our mind, heart, and soul. Today is life's moments and most precious gifts, that's why it is called the present. No more than I can bear......Only "The Dash will Last".
