Wilbur Simms Obituary

SIMMS, WILBUR L., 87, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 18, 2004. He was born in New Orleans, LA. Wilbur was a US Navy veteran of WWII. Lake Mary has been his home for the past 25 years after living in Ft. Lauderdale 55 years where he was a member of the Board of Realtors. Wilbur was a man of great faith. His greatest desire was to please and glorify God in all things and for others to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Wilbur never met a stranger and was known by all for his great sense of humor, his love for the Lord, life and family. Wilbur served our Lord in many capacities. To name a few, he was a Coordinator for Billy Graham Film Ministries, past President of the Orlando chapter of the Wycliffe Bible Translators, a Counseling Chairman for John Haggai Crusades in Ft. Lauderdale, a missionary overseas, a volunteer Christian Counselor with Christian HELP of Cassleberry, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of River Oaks Church in Lake Mary. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen Simms of Lake Mary; daughter Wilma Tenney and husband James of Colfax, CA; stepson Martin Cawley and wife Wendy of Altamonte Springs; stepdaughter-in-law Charlotte Cawley of Orlando; five grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a niece. He was preceded in death by his brother, George Simms and stepson, James Cawley. Burial Services will be private with interment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 2PM at River Oaks Presbyterian Church, 405 Washington Ave., Lake Mary, FL 32746. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Wilbur's memory be sent to River Oaks Church. BALDWIN FAIRCHILD FUNERAL HOME OAKLAWN CHAPEL is in charge of arrangements. 407-322-4263.

Wilbur was my Dad. God blessed me with the best dad a daughter could ask for. I miss him terribly, but know he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I look forward to the day when I am reunited with him in heaven.
