Kenneth Leung Obituary

Kenneth Edward Leung, 62, went to his final resting place with our Lord on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 22, 1952, to William and Alicia Leung. He married Norma Reyes in 1978.

Ken grew up in Carson, Calif., where he made many lifelong friends. This is a testament to the kind of man he was. He ran track and cross country, and graduated from Carson High School. He worked at The Dow Chemical Co. in Torrance, Calif., while attending college, finally earning his Bachelor's Degree in Business from U.S.C., and transferred to Midland, in 1984, where he worked in Customer Service. He retired from Dow after 34 years, to work on a joint venture between Dow Chemical and Chevron-Phillips named Americas Styrenics in Texas. He retired in 2012. He was an avid athlete, loved running, playing tennis, racquetball, softball and volleyball. When he wasn't doing that, he was on his elliptical.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; children, Janelle and Kenny II; mother, Alicia; brother, Bill Jr.; mother-in-law, Alicia; many sisters and brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William; brother, Anthony; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

Ken was one in a billion. He was cherished and loved by his family and friends. He was a positive example to everyone he met. He was the happiest person anyone was blessed to know. The best tribute anyone can pay him is to cherish your spouse; fight hard to preserve your marriage; and value your family and be respectful to all.

A celebration of his life was held June 10, 2015, at All Souls Mortuary in Long Beach, Calif.

One of my proudest moments is when people would ask me if Ken and I are brothers. Yes we sometimes acted the same and shared so many of the same values and humor but Ken was more then a brother to me. He was the kindest, most gracious, and caring man I have ever met. I never saw him mad or heard him say a negative word about or to anyone. He had a strong faith, he was a great husband, a loving father, and the best friend anyone could ever ask for.

Anyone who knew him saw one of the most genuine people they would ever meet. He never hid himself, what you saw was Ken and what he was, was truly an amazing person. He will be missed.

Thank you for being an Uncle to my kids, a great Uncle to my grandchildren, and a comfort to my wife during my illness.

Thank you for being a part of my life. Much of who I am is because of the example you were to me. You are one of the few people who could truly make me laugh and my fondest memories are of you laughing. I will always hear that laugh when I think of you.

I miss you my brother. Thank you Lord for Ken.

It was truely unexpected to read your husband, Ken's, obituary in the Midland Daily News. We knew him personally only by sight, though thru you, Norma, you always talked so highly about your husband. We knew you two were true soul mates. This must be a very, very hard blow for your entire family, the loss of a good husband and father. Cherish all your memories. You are in our thoughts and prayers,

I hope that Kenny knew how much I loved and appreciated him for the past 40 some years. I met him in high school when he ran track and cross country with my ex-husband, David Smith, who has preceded Ken in death. What a wildly funny bunch those guys were. Through the years Ken and Norma have remained loyal and loving friends and I loved them both dearly. My sincerest sympathies go out to Norma, Janelle, Ken Jr., Bill, and Ken's sweet mother.

My heart is breaking for the entire family at this terrible loss. I didn't know Ken but I know his children. To raise such beautifully amazing and kind spirited children I KNOW he was a very special man. I know he will be missed terribly but he lives on in both of his children... My heart is with you all. Peace and Love Adrienne

Ken was one of the finest men I ever knew who would do anything to help someone out. A gentleman and a man of honor and integrity, a quick smile and an even quicker sense of humor. Being his friend and track and cross country teammate at Carson High have given me the greatest of memories, some of the best times of my life. Many great times spent with he and Norma along with other Carson High friends, I will always cherish those times. My deepest sympathies to Norma, Kenny, Janelle, Alicia and Bill - my heart is broken also for the loss of Ken.

Ken was one of the nicest and kindest people you could ever meet. Always had a smile, you could hear his smile in his voice. There are not many people on this planet you can say that about, but Ken was one in a million. Never ever say anything negative about anyone. Kind heart and mind, he will be missed by many, but he also will be cherished by many in the years to come
