Marilyn Adams Obituary

Marilyn Adams
Marilyn Delight Adams 93, of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15th, 2022 with members of her family by her side. Marilyn was born April 30, 1929 to the late Lewis Cordell and Goldie (Dillbeck) Cordell in Richmond, IN. On August 29th, 1949, she married James A. Adams, her childhood sweetheart. They were married for 66 years until James's death in 2015.
Marilyn is survived by three sons, Robert (Beverly) Adams of St. Louis, MI, Ronald (Melinda) Adams of Aurora, CO and Marvin (Lynn) Adams of Saline, MI; eight grandchildren, Jeremy (Jessica Caesar) Adams, Nathan (Ashlee and son Joe) Adams, Laura (Kyle) Kimbell, Eric Adams, Melissa (Mike) Mercik, Marcia (Chadd Teets) Adams, Michelle (Steve Sankey) Adams , Megan (Josh Husted) Adams; ten great grand children, Jacob Adams, Caitlin Adams, Sara Adams, Abby Adams, Chloe Adams, Noah Adams, Parker Mercik, Izzy Mercik, Jackson Billingsley and Peyton Billingsley. She is also survived by her brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Cordell of Tustin, CA, many nieces, nephews, in-laws and close partners of family members who she loved very much. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Adams, son, Dwight Adams, parents, Lewis and Goldie Cordell, sister Jewell Petitt and brother Joe Cordell.
Marilyn was a lifelong member of The Church of the Nazarene, served as a secretary at Alma College, Sunday school teacher, church pianist & organist, and she was most proud of her accomplishments as a home leader, helping to run the operations of a home with four active boys. She excelled as a mother, loving wife and partner with her husband in her church work, supporting James, a lifelong pastor in the Church of the Nazarene. She was a fabulous, from scratch cook and a talented artist. Most of all, she cared for, worried about, took pride in and loved being with friends and family across many US states. Her constant love and prayers will be deeply missed by many.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, December 3rd, 2022 from 11:00 AM until Noon at Midland Community Nazarene Church, 5700 Jefferson Ave, Midland, MI 48640. Pastor Brian Huff will be officiating the memorial service, beginning at 12:00 PM - Noon, at the church. Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her late husband and son in the cemetery in St. Louis, MI.
