Dr. Lynn H. Habacker, 88, of Paducah, passed away at 4:40 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2024, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center in Paducah.
Lynn was born on Aug. 24, 1935, in Paducah, to the late Lyle & Aline Holt Habacker Sr. In his younger years, he worked as a delivery boy for Habacker's grocery. He graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School and then went on to do his undergraduate at Western Kentucky University. He enrolled and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and was a member of the Psi Omega Dental Fraternity. He was a veteran in the United States Army and served for 10 years as a captain in the Army Dental Corps. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church and was a member of Roberts Sunday School Class. He was an avid golfer and a member of Rolling Hills Country Club in Paducah and was a former member of Paducah Country Club.
Dr. Habacker was a retired dentist for over 50 years. He worked in the Headstart Dentistry program. He was a member of the Jackson Purchase Dental Society, the Kentucky Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He was a founding member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and served as Past-President and Secretary of the Southwestern Dental Society. He was awarded the Fellowship Award from the Kentucky Dental Association for outstanding contribution to dentistry in Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Anne Hatcher Habacker of Paducah; his daughter, Julie Lynne (Mark) Smith of O'Fallon, Missouri; his sons, Steven (Sheila) Habacker of Nashville, Tennessee, and James "Jim" Habacker of Nashville, Tennessee; his grandchildren who will serve as his pallbearers, Ryan Smith, Margaret Smith, Ally Smith (Aaron) Flanagan, Charles Habacker, Lynsey Habacker (Michael) Gregory, Griffin Habacker, Holt Habacker and Mason Habacker; his great-grandchildren, Calvin Gregory and Rory Flanagan; a sister-in-law, Nancy Hatcher; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sue Habacker Thompson; a brother, Howard Lyle Habacker Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Julie Yeomans Habacker; and brother-in-law, Dr. Fredric Hatcher.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2 with Rev. Justin Ramer, Rev. Gregory Waldrop and Mr. John Sparks officiating. Burial and Military honors will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery in Paducah. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home in Paducah.
