Florence BELL Obituary
(1924-2016) On September 12, 2016, Florence Bell passed away peacefully from heart failure at Palm Beach Gardens Hospital after a wonderful 92 years highlighted by a 72 year commitment and marriage to Jerry Bell. Florence had everything she could have ever hoped for in life…and more: a husband who idolized her and was a partner who respected her; two children she treasured who provided great fun and interesting experiences; two grandchildren she adored; an endless flow of good, close friends; beautiful homes, travel all over the world, financial security and lots of laughter. There is a black and white photo from Newsday in the early 1950s that still hangs in her son Peter's office of his Florence reading to him at a book fair she organized. This photo is her legacy. She passed her passion for books, art, music, theater, movies, travel, food, news on to her children who passed it on to their children and those passions have strongly influenced how all of them spend their time both professionally and socially. Even in her final weeks suffering increasingly from dementia, she struggled to read the daily newspaper front page to back. Florence Bell is survived by her husband Jerry; her sons Marty Bell and Peter Bell; Peter's wife Sharon Dworkin Bell; and her grandchildren David Bell and Danny Bell. A memorial service to celebrate Florence Bell's great life will be held on Sunday, September 25 from 3:00PM to 5:00PM at the Grand Sala at La Posada, Masterpiece Way, Palm Beach Gardens.
