James Seitz Obituary

SEITZ, James Joseph ("Jim")

Beloved husband and father, Jim Seitz passed on Thursday, November 8th, at Arcadia Methodist Hospital, following a long fight with various ailments, including kidney failure.

Jim was born in Sidney, Montana on August 16, 1938 to Nell and Bill Seitz. He graduated from Sidney High School, and boarded a train for East Lansing, Michigan, where he spent the next four years earning his baccalaureate degree in hotel and restaurant management at Michigan State University. A two-year stint in the Navy brought him to Pasadena, where he took a job at the Huntington (Sheraton) Hotel. After serving in multiple roles at the Huntington, he settled into a position as a food buyer with Sheraton's corporate office, where he remained for over 30 years. After retiring from Sheraton, he served as a consultant for the Hilton Corporation for five years.

It was at the Huntington Sheraton Hotel that he met his beautiful wife Ann (Hoover), with whom he had three children. Jim and Ann bought a home in Temple City, where their children attended school, and where Ann still lives today. Jim served as a baseball coach for his two sons, as President of Temple City National Little League, and then spent over 25 years as an assistant district administrator for Little League Baseball's District 18. He was an avid golfer, and loved spending time with his family watching the Angels, the Kings, and his beloved Michigan State Spartans.

He is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Nell, and his brother Bill Jr. He is survived by his wife Ann, his daughter Elizabeth Gibson and her husband Shannon of Toledo, OH; his son Joe and his wife Hilary of Anchorage, AK, and their daughters Taylor and Abbigale; and his son Bill of Chicago, IL. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Margaret Seitz; his brother-in-law George Hoover; his sister-in-law Chris Hoover; his nieces Dannette Stevens, Deanne Rauschendorfer , Donna Wilson, and, Carolee and Laurel Hoover ; and his nephews David and John Seitz.

A memorial service will be held at Church of Savior Episcopal Church in San Gabriel, CA on Saturday, November 17, and 5:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's memory to the Union Station Foundation (www.unionstationfoundation.org), or Immanuel Episcopal Church at 4366 Santa Anita Ave, El Monte, CA 91731. I just wanted to send my heartfelt sympathy. Without him, I wouldn't have my best friend. As a wonderful person, he leaves behind an equally wonderful family and friends who will remember him every day with love and happy memories forever.
