Freeman Raber Obituary

When asked of his service, Freeman replied, "No regrets."

Freeman was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, and arrived in Port Angeles on a Harley-Davidson Knucklehead in December 1946.

He found work at Crown Zellerbach but soon entered the Army to serve in Korea.

Upon his return, he married, settled in the area and had four children.

It was a lively household with three boys and a girl. The kids could be a handful with a lot of fun and mischief but always in the spirit of love.

Sometimes, the boys would really get into horseplay.

One day, they decided to target practice with their .22-caliber rifles on his old Nash Airflyte.

Over 300 rounds were spent.

When dad got home, all hell broke loose.

Dad loved the outdoors, camping and fishing with his family.

He had many hobbies, including sewing, painting and woodworking.

Tragically, he lost his middle son and only daughter.

He is survived by his oldest and youngest sons.

Throughout his long life, Freeman had many friends whom he loved and cherished. A special thanks to all.

Services with full military honors will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at 9 a.m. at Mount Angeles Memorial Park, 45 Monroe Road, Port Angeles. All interested parties are welcome.
