Edgar Galloway Obituary
Edgar V. "Bud" Galloway, age 91, of Harrisburg, passed away May 13, 2019 at home with his wife and daughter by his side. He was born July 7, 1927, in Harrisburg, to Charles and Irene (Melcher) Galloway. He graduated from Susquehanna Twp. High School in 1945 and married Jean K. Eldon on VJ Day, August 1, of the same year. He was a shoe salesman for Kinney Shoes in Altoona for a short time until he took an apprenticeship at the McFarland Printing Co. where he worked for 37 years and retired as the supervisor of the bindery. Bud was also a co-owner with his dad and brother of the Galloway Nursery, a small, but fine landscape business. He loved being a busy person, and had many interests and passions that were special to him. He attended most sporting events at at S.T.H.S. well into his 80's. He followed PSU sports on TV. He loved traveling with his family, horse racing, playing cards and shooting pool with "the guys", playing golf, hunting, going to casinos, bus trips, and vacationing in Ocean City, Maryland. His favorite activity was bowling and he participated in many group leagues into his early 80's. He won a National Senior Championship in 1987. He lived his dream of owning several thoroughbred racing horses, which ran at Penn National, most of which did well. Bud enjoyed being a member of many clubs including Susquehanna Twp. Alumni Assoc., Susquehanna Golden Agers, and was past president of the Central Pennsylvania Printinghouse Craftsman Assoc. He was an active, lifelong member of Penbrook Church of God, participating in many activities. He served on the Church Council for many years. At Penbrook he participated in Easter egg making, roasting nuts at Christmas, performed in "skits" to entertain, got married, witnessed dozens of weddings, child dedications, baptisms, and ushered when needed. He truly loved his Lord! Surviving are Beverly (Bruaw) Galloway, his loving wife. Daughter Edwina Cassell (Tom) of Middle Paxton Twp. Son Rodney Galloway (companion Beverly) of Westminster, MD. Grandsons James K. Maley, Jr. (Kendra) of Camp Hill and Zachary Galloway of Harrisburg. Great grandchildren Kyla, Mackenzie and Keegan Maley. Bud leaves behind to honor his memory a brother, Donald Galloway (Linda) of Harrisburg, sisters Leoda Galloway, Lauretta Tobias and Audrey Hammaker of Harrisburg. Many loving nieces and nephews. Bud's extended family include stepdaughters Sue Giles of Harrisburg, Debbie Jeffery (Joe) of Fairfax, VA and stepson Mike Harris of Hummelstown. Stepgrandchildren Jeffrey, Andrew, Douglas, Mac, Harry, Emily and Grace. Stepgreatgranddaughter Olive. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Jean. Memorial services will be Tuesday, May 21 at 11 a.m. at Penbrook Church of God.
