Gerald Durre will always has a special place in my heart as my 1st pastor, after coming to Christ in 1979, at Kirkwood Road Christian Church. He baptized me at 2:00 AM after my 2nd shift work at Emerson Electric in Ferguson MO. The black man who led me to Christ and came with me and a few others, that was some freezing cold water too ! I remember Gerald, for that and his money string, loud clap, giving bad driver the cross sign, and great preaching and lesson, the mirror or "who's the teacher" his excitement for Christian concerts, like from Ozark Christian College and SLCC. Always very encouraging, what a very very tough life he has endured and what true champion in the faith, I am totally amazed as to all he has been through, love and miss him !! Uncle Gerald, we shall miss you here on earth -- your commitment to God and Jesus Christ our Savior, the example you were to so many who knew and loved you, your willingness to help anyone in need, and the joy you provided. As your daughter said in your obituary -- your race is done and you are with all in Heaven who are welcoming you with open arms and hearts. We will forever treasure the memory of you. Your sister-in-law Marjorie joins us in these thoughts.
