Willie R. "Bill" Groom passed away peacefully at Cascade View in Bend on Saturday, October 19 at the age of 91.
Bill was born on a farm in Stamford, Texas, in 1922. He was a U.S. Army veteran and later worked as a Sandblaster at the Naval Shipyard in San Diego. Bill married his love, Emajean "Jeannie" Groom in La Pine in 2001. He had a passion for visiting ghost towns across the country, and a love of animals.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie, in 2004, and also his sister, Sarah Zelpha Crawford.
Services to be held at Baird Memorial Chapel in La Pine on Saturday, October 26, 2013, with a Viewing at 10:00 AM, Funeral at 11:00 AM, and Graveside to follow at La Pine Community Cemetery.

Well Laura you always have had a flare for writing...thanks you actually found the exact words for what I wanted to say but could not find words for. Until meet again Uncle Son...thanks for dragging us around our farm teaching us how to milk cows, process and sell our milk, always bring back your milk jars and stay the hell out Of the pig pens, for teaching us to be caring,kind, and loving pet owners, helping us get the wood in and letting us argue over WHO was going to go get Grandma's sodie water and always smiling! You Uncle Son will always influence and add a little sunshhine to my days.Thank you for being you, fighting for our country and for truely being One Of the nicest, most genuine men in my life.

The imprint you left on me is one I will carry the rest of my days and I will do my best to pass your wisdom on to my Children and Grand Children. Thank you for the Laughter, the Lessons, the Talks, the Always Having My Back, the Card Games, the Memories. and the Never Failing, Never Ending Unconditional Love.
