Connie Hammerman Obituary

Connie Hammerman
Connie Hammerman passed peacefully in her sleep, on June 1, 2023, at her home in Petaluma with her son Joseph by her side. She was 90 years old.
She was born in San Francisco in 1932 where she grew up in the Mission District until she married. They moved to San Mateo to raise
their family of four children. She then worked at San Francisco State University with exchange students and the Fulbright Scholarship program to give them a broad cultural experience during their stay in California. After her divorce, she married Bill Hammerman and began giving walking tours of the historical districts of San Francisco as well as wine tasting tours of the Napa/Sonoma wine country. They moved to Petaluma in 1993 and she became involved with the Petaluma Historical Museum, starting up the popular walking tours of downtown Petaluma. She enjoyed history and sharing her extensive knowledge with the public. Connie loaned her talents and energy to many groups and was often the glue that held things together. She was active in the Petaluma Womans Club, the Cancer Society, the Garden Club, Village Network, and the Visitors Center to name a few. Connie was preceded in death by her youngest son David and her husband Bill. She is survived by her eldest son, two daughters, a brother, and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 16, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Petaluma Woman's Club.

Such sad news. I knew Connie through the Village Network of Petaluma. She was a Charter Member and she was so gracious to lend herself and her lovely home to the Village for many gatherings. The years of Covid isolation put a stop to our occasional lunches downtown . She was always interested in lending support to others and she surely left this world a better place. Sending warm thoughts and love to her family.
