Deb and I miss Tommy very much! I use to visit Tommy and Judy when I retired. I sat and talk to both of them for hours! Getting advice and support! My grandson and I would also visit playing on their pin ball machine. My fav pic of my grandson, Tommy and Judy! Tommy had a heart of Gold. He knew Deb and I were in the early stages of courting and didn't want us to be upset. When he finally broke the news, I was sobbing like a baby, he put his arms around me and was comforting me. Imagine a man with cancer was consoling me, and he said; "it will be ok"

I have known Tommy for over 25 years and his dear wife Judy. You can´t mention one without the other. I will miss interacting and joking with Tommy at his store. I would bring my 10 year old grandson to visit and we would play on his pin ball machine!! After I retired I would sit at his shop for hours talking! Tommy was a kind gentle soul and a very positive person. Tommy will be sorely missed! thanks for the memories! Mr. Baseball! 2nd lover of Golf!

I have fond memories of Tommy going back to 8th grade and VB High School on 24th street. We also played Little League Baseball together for years. Great VB local and sad to see him moving on to the big Baseball Diamond in Heaven.
Blessings to all his family

"Ace" was the first friend I made when we moved to Va Beach in the 6th Grade @ King's Grant Elementary School.
He has been a lifelong friend and always an incredible athlete and as we aged a knowledgeable source of all sports trivia and needs. My last purchase was a starter
baseball glove for my grandson. His enthusiastic approach to life will be greatly missed and to echo Coach Shackelford's statement, he died far too soon. Look forward to seeing you again at the eternal athletic events.

We´re so sad to hear of Tommy´s death. Our condolences to his wife Judy, and his brothers Chuck and Kenny. We´ve been neighbors of the Atkinson family in Lynnhaven Acres for many years - since the late 70´s. The Atkinson boys played football in our back yard long before we moved in. Tommy was an athlete and all around nice guy! He found the perfect niche in his sports store with Judy by his side. After his parents passed away he would often drive by the family home, even though it was sold, to stop and chat. May you Rest In Peace Tommy.

Tommy was the nicest guy you would ever meet. Caring, willing to do anything to help you, so carefree and friendly. Somewhat of a legend to my children from the times we would visit the shop as they grew up. He'll be missed. Rest in Peace Tommy!

Great guy, loved all sports. I had the pleasure of playing golf w/him at Heron Ridge, true gentleman, great sense of humor. Never met a stranger. Left us far too early.
RIP my friend.

Tommy & I grew up in the same neighborhood. We went to the same schools together & enjoyed fun times together. He was really good in any sport, but I think he loved baseball the most. I have seen him from time to time at his store talking about baseball. I talked to Tommy a couple of days before he passed. I'm so glad that I did. He spoke in a soft voice that let me feel that time was close. I'm so appreciative for that memory. With heartfelt condolences

What a very sad shock. Too Young. At the risk of dismaying other players, Tommy ranks in the top tier of my favorite Baseball players that I ever coached. Tough, skilled, team player, with great humorous attitude, coachable, All district infielder at First Colonial. He also played QB in football and Point guard in Basketball. Picked him up in his 30s to play in National SB championship in Alabama. Just a super unique unselfish person, My sincere sympathy to his great family.
