Carl Beck Obituary
Virginia Beach - Carl F. Beck, 87, passed away Fri., July 6, 2018. He was born in Bronx, NY on July 27, 1930. He earned a BS and MA from NYU. Shortly after, Carl began a career as an educator, where he dedicated 30 years in various roles in both NJ and NY.
Carl spent his entire life working as an artist. His true passions consisted of sculpture, charcoal, paints and craftsmanship. He even designed and built a home on the Eastern Shore of VA.
Carl owned and operated the Trawler Restaurant in Exmore, VA. In later years, Carl was an estimator, planner and strategist for a development company.
Carl enjoyed watching VA Tech football and rooting for the Redskins. He will be truly missed by his kitties 'Blinky' and 'Jingles'.
Carl is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Ella Beck; and son, Richard Beck. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Charlotte Beck; sister, Tina Hall and husband Tom; children, Carl F. Beck, James Beck, and Laurie Beck; 6 step-children, Brian Kahan and wife Lisa, Pam Smith and husband Paul, Zachary Parks, Lydia Pugh and husband Patrick, Jacob Parks, and Carter Parks; 12 grandchildren, John, Everett, Matt, Kristopher, Samantha, Tori, Jillian, Lukas, Zenobia, Zara, Patrick 'Flip', and Thomas; and one great-grandchild, Anabelle.
Charlotte would like to extend a very special thank you to his best friend, John Reese; village of friends; home healthcare nurse, Christina; Chaplain Debbie Quam; and Officer M. Thompson of VBPD.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
