Elaine Casterline Obituary

Elaine Gail (Liz) Casterline, 79, (8/22/41--10/29/20) passed away peacefully at her home on October 29, 2020, after a decade-long battle with cancer. She was with family and friends when she passed and was finally able to let go having been able to say her goodbyes to those she loved. Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Ed Casterline, her son, Todd, and her parents, Ralph and Rene List.

Survivors include her Sister Marilyn (Tom) Luckman; Brother R. Michael (Barbara) List; and Sister Nancy List, along with several nieces and nephews.

Liz has two surviving children from her first marriage: Scott (Terry) Huber and Craig (Stefanie) Huber, as well as 2 grandchildren, Max and Daisy.

She is also survived by her stepdaughter Barbara (Paul) Casterline Regan and their daughters, Katie and Meg; stepsons Dennis, and Ken (Lorraine) Casterline and their children Casey, Patrick, and Jessica.

Liz passed with the grace and dignity with which she lived her life. She died proudly as it was no longer possible for her to live proudly. Through all of her physical struggles the last years of her life, she never lost her faith and remained a true friend to so many she kept in her life. A fetching woman, Liz was also smart, quit-witted, and personable. And she was so very put together every day--organized and elegant even when dressed down. Her light will be deeply missed as the world is a decidedly darker place now that she is gone.

A mass will be held to commemorate her life and honor her spirit on December 21, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marks Catholic Church, 1505 Kempsville Rd, Virginia Beach, VA. The mass is open to all. COVID-19 restrictions (masks and social distancing) will be required. Burial will be held at a later time in New Freedom, PA.

She was an amazing woman! She would come in to the practice I worked for and I would always help her every time she came in. In fact she’d always come to me. I’m saddened to hear but happy to know she is no longer is suffering. She was beautiful and the sweetest lady I ever met.
